Generalist Hardware Engineer (Jr.)
As a hardware technician, you will be involved in the development, assembly, and quality assurance stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle. From a supporting role, you will be helping in building and tracking documentation and organization efforts, including simple schematics and diagrams of a variety of systems.
Your responsibilities may include building bench jigs, conducting experiments, assembly of custom electronic and mechanical components, as well as testing and modifying existing and custom hardware. Additionally, you will be involved in some small batch manufacturing – crimping custom cable harnesses, post-processing of 3D printed parts, PCB assembly and rework.
You will help us find solutions to the problems that arise in the course hardware prototyping, quickly and effectively. Are there off-the-shelf components or does the problem require a custom machined part? Is there a better path through a combination of the two?

1+ year practical experience with electronics, fabrication, assembly and troubleshooting of hardware.
Capable of reading schematics and understanding layout of existing designs.
Experience in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, various manufacturing methods.
Experience with electronic instrumentation such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
Soldering (Through-hole and SMD), PCB assembly, cable crimping.
Comfortable working for several hours while standing (in a laboratory setting).
Experience in graphics and mixed reality development.
Experience with CAD / CAM.
Experience with virtual reality (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.).
Understanding of 3D math, linear algebra.
Experience with Jira, Perforce, and Confluence or similar bug/task tracking and version control software.
Design experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion and delivery.
Familiarity with RF/wireless concepts.
Previous experience with scripting and programming languages to automate testing is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of Electrical Engineering.

The Hardware Technology team at Red 6 engineers high performing and highly advanced augmented reality platforms and infrastructure, which support our military partners’ training and operations.
The goal of the Research department is to understand and develop how the multiverse works. Embedded within the Research department is a talented team that builds the tools that allow us to conduct R&D with a unique understanding of bleeding edge technologies. These tools tackle problems from data ingestion and storage, to data visualization and advanced communications networks. In order to achieve this goal, we require a first-rate development ecosystem.
